Kairos"whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine, you did for me" --Matthew 25:40 MissionKairos, "God's Special Time", is a ministry devoted to building strong Christian communities in maximum security state and federal correctional institutions. Your prayers for this ministry are appreciated. Also, homemade cookies and posters expressing Christian love are welcome. Men's KairosAbout 6,000 dozen homemade cookies are needed for each Kairos weekend, at least 200 dozen from each of the team members. (That means 400 dozen from Epiphany!) Cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God's concern to a group of people who seldom encounter either in their daily lives. Your acts of love and sacrifice have a profound effect, not only on the residents attending the weekend, but also on the prison staff and resident population as a whole. The Kairos Short Course is offered by an interdenominational team of clergy and lay persons. About 30 serve inside the institution, while about 5 others serve on an outside cook team. Women's KairosDid you know that there is also Women's Kairos? And that our own Lyn Adams has been serving on Kairos teams in Virginia women's prisons since the beginning of the program in 1992. Lyn has been to both of Virginia's women's prisons, Goochland and Fluvanna, and has served as music director as well as in many leadership positions.
