Altar Guild

Mission

The Altar Guild's mission is to serve God by preparing and maintaining the articles used in the worship life of the parish, under direction of the clergy.

Altar Guild

Duties

The Altar Guild serves under the direction of the Rector. Responsibilities are divided between the Altar Guild Chairman and three teams. Each team serves for a full month, once every three months. The team schedule lists current team members.

The Altar Guild strives to help the worship life of the parish run smoothly. Our duties include:

  • Draping the altar with the appropriate hangings for the season.
  • Setting up the altar and communion vessels prior to each service.
  • After each service, cleaning and storing the items used.
  • Laundering linens used during the service.
  • Ordering flowers for the altar.
  • Ordering and arranging seasonal decorations.
  • Monitoring and ordering supplies.
  • In general, maintaining the articles used in the worship life of the parish in good order.

The Altar Guild Training Manual covers Altar Guild responsibilities in more detail.
