About Us
Our Vision
The Church of the Epiphany is an Anglican Church with a three fold vision:
- To Stand for Jesus Christ
- To Grow together as God's family
- Make Him known through the power of the Holy Spirit
We Believe
- The Holy Scriptures are the revealed Word of God
- The Nicene Creed is our statement of Christian faith
- The two sacraments ordained by Christ are Baptism and the
Eucharist according to our Lord's words of institution found in the Bible, and
other sacramental rites, which evolved in the church include
Confirmation, Ordination, Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation and Anointing of the
Sick
- The
Historic Episcopate (oversight by bishops) in the administration of order and
maintenance of unity in the Church
- We affirm these essential elements of our doctrine and
disassociate ourselves from any false doctrine or teaching, whether within the
Church or outside of it, that clearly violates these essential elements.
We Value
- We value the Bible in teaching and preaching
- We value music and worship as
expressions that draw people to the love of God
- We place great worth in the ministry of the laity in healing, liturgical
ministry, outreach, teaching, leadership and evangelism
- We are a congregation
that values fellowship and the sharing of our lives through retreats, parish
get-togethers and celebrations of our common life in Jesus Christ
- We are liturgical in our worship, yet informal in our approach in order
to make the church a comfortable place for newcomers
- We value our children as our greatest gifts and seek to help them to grow
up into their baptismal covenant promises and prayers.
Our Worship
One of the significant characteristics of the Anglican Church is its freedom in worship.
Having an ordered and orderly basis of our worship frees us from our whims and moods and allows
us to express our praises as we will. It also allows us to respect the freedom of one another.
Some folks genuflect, others lift their hands in praise, another bows his head as the cross
passes, others use the sign of the cross, still others speak in tongues. Some love Plainsong and
Gregorian Chant, while others have a taste for music of more recent vintage, and some would love
the quiet of no music at all. The Body of Christ is large enough to contain us all, and the
heart of God is generous enough to receive the praise of each of us. Let us be certain that we
are both large and generous enough in spirit to respect each other in our differences as in our
similarities.
- Visitors who have been baptized and know Christ to be their Savior and are in relationship with Him, are welcome at the Lords Table in this church
- Children too young to receive Communion, or others who do not wish to do so, are encouraged to come forward, cross their arms across their chests, and receive a prayer of blessing.
